This 3-day expedition is designed as an introduction to offshore sailing, taking you from the Los Angeles area across the San Pedro Channel to Catalina Island. It’s the perfect opportunity to experience real sailing conditions while building confidence in a short, focused timeframe.
During the passage, you’ll gain hands-on experience in sail handling, navigation, watchkeeping, anchoring, and basic onboard systems. The San Pedro Channel offers a true offshore environment, often presenting a range of wind, sea state, and traffic conditions that make for an ideal training experience.
Time at anchor provides the opportunity to practice anchoring techniques, onboard routines, and enjoy the unique setting of Catalina Island, while continuing to build practical skills throughout the trip.
This expedition is ideal for beginners looking to get started, as well as those with some experience who want to build confidence and gain real-world sailing exposure.
