Los Angeles Sailing School

One World Sailing Academy is a Los Angeles Sailing School based in Marina del Rey, California. We offer fully immersive liveaboard sailing courses ranging from three-day, seven-day, and ten-day offshore training expeditions.

Our programs take place aboard a Category A blue water cruising sailboat, an Amel Super Maramu 2000, specifically equipped for offshore sailing, passagemaking, and long-term cruising.
These are advanced sailing courses designed to provide fully immersive offshore and blue water sailing experiences.

We teach all aspects of coastal cruising, blue water sailing, and offshore passage making. Our typical instructional cruising grounds range from Morro Bay to San Diego, although we focus primarily on Channel Islands National Park, Catalina Island, and the surrounding offshore islands of Southern California.

For people searching for serious sailing lessons Southern California, our programs are designed to go far beyond basic harbor sailing or introductory day sailing instruction.

We work with small groups, families, couples, or individual students. Most trips typically involve three students, although occasionally four people if it is a family or private group.
We are heavily focused on advanced sailing, onboard systems required for long-distance and long-duration sailing, all conducted aboard a Category A blue water cruising sailboat. Our programs are designed for people who are genuinely interested in offshore sailing, offshore passage making, and blue water cruising.
That is our primary focus.
One World Sailing Academy exists to fill what we believe is a major gap in sailing education, primarily advanced sailing and offshore sailing education currently available in Southern California.

We offer these courses with no prerequisites required. If you are truly interested in becoming a full-time liveaboard cruising sailor, learning offshore passage making, or eventually crossing oceans, these are the types of courses you should be looking for. Our three-day, seven-day, and ten-day immersive training expeditions are specifically designed to help students move toward those long-term cruising and offshore sailing goals.

We are homeported in Marina del Rey and primarily teach throughout Southern California, but we also offer seasonal training expeditions to the Sea of Cortez and mainland Mexico from November through April.
As far as I know, there is currently nobody else on the West Coast teaching this style of fully immersive advanced offshore sail training the way we do at One World Sailing Academy.
